The Relais Villa Olmo enjoys a strategic position from which to visit the beauties of Tuscany. Located just 15 Km from the center of Florence, cradle of the Renaissance, it is an excellent starting point to discover the Chianti area and its characteristic villages.
You can start from Impruneta, the village where our food and wine resort is located, which links its name, historically, to terracotta: the clay found in this area of Tuscany is particularly suitable for creating a durable material, baked in ovens giving it that characteristic orange color. There are furnaces that still adopt the old production techniques, dating back to 1098 and laboratories open to the public, both to visit and to purchase. Each town around our resort with pool in Tuscany has its tourist attractions and its gastronomic, historical-artistic excellence.
Strada in Chianti with one of the best pasta factories in Italy, the historic Fabbri Pastificio Artigianale, of which it is also possible to visit the small museum; San Casciano Val di Pesa with the house of “Il Principe” Niccolò Machiavelli, the castles and the parish churches of the Romanesque age; Greve, capital of the Chianti Classico with its splendid central square, the craft shops of hand-woven baskets and olive wood products; the medieval village of Montefioralle, known as one of the most beautiful cities in Italy and the home of Amerigo Vespucci; Panzano, known for its agricultural and wine production, the home of the famous “Florentine steak”; Bargino with the headquarters of the Antinori winery and the precious Abbey of Passignano, a jewel of medieval art.
Each guest can build itineraries that are appropriate to their interests, discovering characteristic and unusual routes every day, experimenting with different activities and tasting the specialties of the territory. A slow, local and excellent tourist proposal as suggested by the philosophy of the Diadema Food & Wine Resort.
